Archimandrite Agathangelos Koumartzakis

Archimandrite Agathangelos Koumartzakis was born on October 23, 1985 in Heraklion, Crete. He completed his encyclical studies at the Patriarchal Ecclesiastical School of Crete. He was ordained a Deacon in 2005 and a Presbyter in 2007 at the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegia Monastery of Agios Georgios Arsaniou in Rethymno by the venerable Metropolitan of Rethymno and Avlopotamos, Anthimos. In 2011 he received the office of Archimandrite. In 2012 he was appointed by decision of His Eminence Metropolitan Kissamos and Selinos, Amfilohiou Abbot at the Holy Dormition Monastery of Chrysoskalitissa, while in 2022 he is appointed Proto-Secretary of the Holy Metropolis of Kissamos and Selinos. He completed his Higher studies at the Patriarchal Ecclesiastical Academy in Heraklion, Crete. He happens to hold a Master of Arts in Theology from the Neapolis University of Pafos and a PhD from the University of Nicosia, specializing in Canon Law. He has taken part in various Conferences, lectures as well as scientific meetings and has written scientific articles in various magazines and yearbooks. From 2023, by decision of the President and the Board of Directors. of the OAK, is a Scientific Staff of the Orthodox Academy of Crete.
